How To Write Good Content For A Website

how to write good content for a websiteCreating interesting content that your audience wants to read is an ongoing adventure when you have your own online business. How do I choose a subject? What should I write about today? Will my audience like this? These are all common questions going through your head all the time. Today I’d like to share with you how to write good content for a website. It can be any online business, website or blog. You’ve got to know first who your targeted audience is, and what do they want to know.

Choose A Topic That Solves A Problem Or Question

Start with a plan. Choose a topic that is something your readers want to hear about. Focus on the audience. What are they looking for? What problems do they have? How can you fix it for them?

Go over your all your comments and see what your audience is asking for. If you are just starting out or you’ve gone through all your comments looking for problems to solve check out other blogs or forums in your niche. Go through their comments and see what kind of questions their readers are asking and write a post about it.

Question: What online business, affiliate marketing, or building a website topic would you like more information on?

Don’t be shy… I’m sure there’s something you’d like to know… Please leave your answer in the comments section at the bottom of this page.

Be the expert in your niche. Read everything you can find about your niche. This will give you an abundance of things in your mind to write about. Then you’ll be ready and able to solve problems for your customers when they have them.

Begin With An Outline, Then Capture Your Audience

Once you have your topic, you’ll want to search for a keyword phrase to include in your title headline. Then make a general outline of what your post will include. Your first paragraph should include what your post is about and what how to write good content for a websitequestions you are going to solve for your audience. It should also include your keyword phrase in it. Then divide the body of your post up into paragraphs. The title headline and sub-headlines should capture your audience so they want to read on.

There should be a conclusion to the post with a call to action. A call to action is something that makes the reader perform a specific act or instruction. Examples: to buy something, click on something, join something, etc. Always ask for feedback, comments and if your audience has any questions you can help them with.

People Are Attracted To Visuals And Like Easy To Read Text

People like pictures. You are much more likely to attract people to read your content if you have pictures verses just plain text. You can get pictures on most subjects free without having to give any attribution to use for your website at Pixabay. That’s where I get most of my pictures unless I take them myself.how to write good content for a website

Always make sure any pictures you use are not copyright. Some sites like Foter will let you use their pictures if you put a attribution link at the bottom of your post. Lots of their pictures can be used for commercial use and some can’t. You have to look and see what the licence is on each individual picture. Then there are other sites where you can purchase pictures if you want.

I highly suggest that you use visuals within your content. Make sure your sentences are not too long. Break them up into easier to read sizes. The same goes for paragraphs. Separate your posts into short paragraphs. It’s much easier to read.

Yes you are right. Our readers are the most important thing when writing a blog. We need to have good and easy to read content for them otherwise they won’t read it. We need to be solving their problems and answering their questions because that’s why they’re here. Looking for answers.

  4. Wow, great info here and exactly what I needed to get going. I struggle daily with what types of posts to write and your suggestions on how to find topics are all great ideas. I never thought about searching through forums or competitors comments for frequently asked questions. Brilliant!

I do have a question I would love your feedback on. You mention using a keyword phrase in your topic headline. Can you suggest a good keyword tool that can show me the best one to use? I often struggle with finding a decent keyword that will rank.

    1. Hi Patrick,
I’m happy I could help you. Your customers all have questions and problems they need answered. If you can answer them, they will come to you when they need help and products too!

I can suggest to you a very powerful keyword tool. You can try it free for the first 30 keyword searches. It’s called Jaaxy (join here). If you would like to know more about it first… (Click here for more information).

Thank you for your comment. I wish you the best of success!

  5. I think you’re absolutely spot on and you give so many great ways to get ideas for content here!

I see many bloggers writing very sporadically and aimlessly. By that I mean they seem to wake up and write about what they feel like writing about that day, with no bigger blogging strategy in mind and no finger on the pulse in terms of what their target audience wants to know.

I agree with you, you’ve got to know your audience and find out the burning questions they have, because there’s a HUGE difference in writing good content for a website and writing good content for a website that actually gets read.

Like you say, this is where keyword research comes in! I can see how many monthly searches a phrase is being searches for (I.e. how many times this question is being asked) This is powerful because this means I can write content confidently because I’m writing about what people want to know. This takes all the guesswork out of it.

Do you plan your posts in advance so you know what content you’ll be writing next week, next month? Also, what tool do you use to find good keywords to include within your content? Many thanks!

    1. Hi Simon,
That’s right. You can write all the good content you want but if it’s not what your audience is looking for, you are wasting their time. Your audience has come to your site to answer a question or problem they have about the keywords you have chosen to write about about.

I wish I could plan my posts weeks or months ahead but I’m just not that far ahead of things. I do write down ideas if I come across them.

I have an awesome Keyword Tool I use which is Free for the first 30 searches. It’s called Jaaxy. For more information, click here.

Thank you for visiting and commenting on my site! I wish you the very best!
