What Is A Niche?
A niche is a small piece of a market that you can focus your attention on to make money. This is the audience that you will be selling your products or services to. In this article I will be showing you how to find a profitable niche.
Make A List
The first step to finding a niche is to make a list of all your interests, hobbies, professions, and things you know a lot about. But that’s not all you need to do. It also has to be interesting to others, something people are searching for, something people need or want, or a problem you can solve. Next, add the things you need, the things you want, your problems and your fears to the list. At the same time, you don’t want something everyone is already writing about. You will also need to know how much competition there is.
Be The Expert
You need to be the expert on your niche. It will be easier for you to write about your niche if you know something about it. If you don’t know much about it then be prepared to learn about it because people will be asking you questions and advice about your niche. It’s better to choose a niche that’s your either your passion, something you like, or something you know a lot about. You will spending a lot of time with it, so you want it to motivate you into finding out everything there i to know about it. That way you will have fun and enjoy it. That means you’ll spend more time with it and you won’t get bored and lose interest.
Do Your Research
You really need to get serious and take some time out to carefully do your research on your niche. This could mean the difference of you having a successful business or not. In this process of finding your niche, we will start with the list of things you made and go from there until we find something that will be profitable.
Break it Down
You don’t want your niche to be too broad of a subject. You want to break it down into a smaller group that will focus on a certain audience. Plug these things on your list into a keyword tool (available below) to check how many people are searching for it and it’s competition. Next, see if the domain name is available using the domain search tool (available below). If it has more than 1,000 searches per month and the competition is less than 100 people per month and the domain is available put it into a list of keepers. When you’re done, pick either the one you like best or the one with the least competition vs. the most searches.
(Note: If there is a niche you really want to work with and the domain name is not available, or you just want to use a catchy brandable name instead, that is okay too. Just try to make the domain name fairly short and easy to remember.)
